Guadalupe Regional Medical Center | Health Currents | Winter 2021
Floor plan for our new Women’s Imaging Center 4 | GRMC Heal th Currents Leading the way in diagnostic imaging GRMC has provided robotic surgery technology for over five years. Now we will be the first hospital within a 250-mile radius to provide the latest innovation in medical robotic technology— the world’s first robotic x-ray machine. The Siemens Multitom Robotic Advanced X-ray machine, or RAX for short, captures 360-degree, 3D images to allow for improved resolution and views of the body. A major advantage for the patient is that the equipment features twin robotic arms that move around the patient so the patient does not have to move. The patient may remain in a sitting, standing or lying position, which is helpful to view the knee, pelvis or spine in a natural position. This capability helps reduce patient repositioning that can cause pain and increase the risk of further injury. It also means that exams are faster, more comfortable and do not cause claustrophobia. MEETING YOUR NEEDS with new technology Improving women’s health GRMC’s new Women’s Imaging Center, opening in February, offers a full range of comprehensive diagnostic services tailored specifically for women. The latest in medical technology is available for stereotactic breast biopsies, high-resolution 3D breast imaging and ultrasound, pelvic studies, and bone density exams. The wildflower theme throughout this well- appointed, private setting adjacent to the hospital’s imaging department enhances the personal attention provided to each patient by our highly skilled technicians and board-certified radiologists.
