GRMC is able to say a resounding YES! to the many healthcare needs of our surrounding communities due to its organizationwide dedication and passion for excellence. But providing quality care also requires funding to purchase cutting-edge technology and to attract and retain highly skilled and sought-after professionals. We are fortunate that our community is quick to say YES! when GRMF asks for donations to help support the hospital’s mission. One of the many ways to give to the Foundation is to fund an endowment, where the principal is carefully invested and the principal of your gift is never spent. A portion of the return it generates is then distributed annually to support the area or program of your choosing. Our team of professionals can help guide you and your family in making such a contribution. GIVING IN ACTION Two local families who chose to do that recently are Lambert and Maxine Hollub, and Wilfred Bartoskowitz and his daughters. In each case they specified the project they wanted to fund and retained the ability to control and modify the assets. Another recent YES! came from the Seguin Kiwanis Club, who did not hesitate to write a check for $33,500 to fund a new forensic camera, sadly needed for the care of sexually assaulted children and adults. GRMC is one of only a few hospitals in the area that provides this service. There are small and fun ways to give to GRMF too, such as the Annual Race to Raise through downtown Seguin for walkers and runners, who compete to raise funds. Every YES!, small or large, provides a deeply appreciated donation to help us maintain and grow the essential services provided at GRMC. Say YES! to giving GRMC has built a reputation of saying YES! to our community for a wide array of healthcare needs, as detailed in this newsletter. One person who especially embodies the attitude of saying YES!, of seeing possibilities and solutions, and of not being discouraged by obstacles is the longtime Chairman of the GRMC Governing Board and Treasurer of the GRMF Governing Board, James Lee, MD. He was recently recognized by the Seguin Gazette as Citizen of the Year for 2023, a richly deserved honor. Dr. Lee came to Seguin in 1977 and established his Family Practice clinic fresh from his residency at John Peter Smith. Not only did he provide decades of high-quality, compassionate care to thousands of patients, but he also served in multiple leadership roles for the community at large and our medical staff. He realized the need for medical office buildings in the community, designing and developing the Cedar View, Wedgewood and Walnut complexes that continue to be fully occupied today. As a long-serving and very active board member for GRMC and GRMF, he has spearheaded many initiatives to improve the health of our community and grow our services. Dr. Lee’s never-failing can-do attitude inspires me and my team daily, helping to shape our organization’s culture of YES!
