grmedcenter.com  | 3 Laboratory services gets a high-tech makeover To keep pace with the ever-improving technology in laboratory services and to better manage our increasing workload and demand for high-quality laboratory test results, the GRMC Lab recently completed a million-dollar departmental transformation through a full remodel and the addition of new, state-of-the-art automated technology. This system is unique in the region, allowing for improved patient care through faster turnaround time, delivering quality results and improving laboratory efficiency. Updated hyperbaric suites at the Wound Care Center The GRMC Wound Care Center has recently been updated with two Perry Sigma hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers, delivering safety, comfort and expedited wound healing all in one. The hyperbaric suite provides one-on-one personal observation and communication with our patients and the ability to adjust the patient’s positioning for maximum comfort during their treatment cycles. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy administers 100% oxygen to patients under increased atmospheric pressure, significantly improving outcomes for nonhealing wounds. Advanced robotic imaging tech Leading the way in diagnostic imaging, GRMC has provided robotic surgery technology for more than five years. Now we are the first hospital within a 250-mile radius to provide the latest innovation in radiologic robotic technology—the world’s first robotic x-ray machine. The Siemens Multitom Robotic Advanced X-ray machine, or RAX for short, captures 360-degree, 3D images to allow for improved resolution and views of the body. A major advantage for patients is that the equipment features twin robotic arms that move around the patient so the patient does not have to move. The patient may remain in a sitting, standing or lying position, which is helpful for viewing the knee, pelvis or spine in a natural position. This capability helps reduce patient repositioning that can cause pain and increase the risk of further injury. It also means that exams are faster, more comfortable and do not trigger claustrophobia.
