Guadalupe Regional Medical Center | Health Currents | Winter 2022
A place for people with a passion for caring The Seguin food drives described on page 5 have been consistently successful and well supported because of the team effort exhibited by many, but undoubtedly they have been fueled by the passion of one particular individual: Elaine Bennett. Elaine has worked at GRMC since 1994, and she has been the CEO of the hospital’s Foundation (Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation) since 2016. The same unstoppable drive and commitment that she brings to her work is the same energy that has powered her relentless efforts to deliver food to those in need over the past decade. The Seguin Chamber of Commerce has recognized Elaine’s significant contributions and honored her with the prestigious Citizen of the Year Award for 2021, an award she certainly deserves. She provides inspiration and an example of our philosophy at GRMC, with the knowledge that each person has within them the power to do something bigger than themselves and to help others in times of crisis. The GRMC culture has been intentionally developed over decades to recruit and retain talented people—several of whom are featured in this newsletter—with a passion for healthcare and for caring for others. This culture is the building block of our success and our ability to grow our services, our technology, our recognition—and most importantly, our privilege to care for our community. HEALTH CURRENTS is published as a community service for the friends and patrons of GUADALUPE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, 1215 E. Court St., Seguin, TX 78155, 800.506.6394 or 830.379.2411. Haynes, FACHE, CEO Thanks to your kind hearts By Elaine Bennett, CEO, Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation wishes you and your family a blessed and healthy new year! We indeed feel blessed to be part of this supportive community, which helped make last year the Foundation’s best year ever, despite the many challenges that COVID-19 brought. Some of the facility improvements detailed in this newsletter and previous Health Currents newsletters were partly funded with donations through GRMF. For example, more than $250,000 for the laboratory equipment upgrade was made possible by local manufacturers and the Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio. Over half a million dollars was donated to the new Women’s Imaging Center from committed community members, GRMC volunteers, hospital staff and physicians. Recently, we were delighted to receive checks fromThe Harvey E. Najim Charitable Foundation, Maxine and Lambert Hollub, Cargill, GVEC, and other generous community members completing the $177,000 end-of-year campaign goal toward upgrading GRMC’s infant security system. Our community’s big heart was on full display at every one of the food drives we helped to coordinate, bringing nearly 2 million pounds of food to our neighbors in need. And the outpouring of encouragement, appreciation and treats from our community to our hardworking staff members during the various COVID-19 surges were all so uplifting and appreciated! We look forward to helping GRMC with its essential work next year. Please consider GRMF in your tax-deductible charitable contributions again in 2022. Our community hospital continues to grow and prosper—thanks to you. Visit grmedfoundation.org .
