Best in patient safety For the second year in a row, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center has been named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety by the Women’s Choice Award®, placing us in the top 4% of more than 4,000 hospitals in the nation. Women are the main decision-makers for healthcare choices for themselves and their families, and they base their choices on factors such as safety, quality, advanced technology and compassion. This award was developed to help give women criteria- based ratings for those decisions. Award-winning obstetrics In addition to our recognition for overall safety, GRMC also earned the 2021 Women’s Choice Award for being one of the nation’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics. This award helps assure expectant mothers that GRMC will provide the best in terms of quality care for them and their babies. This prestigious award recognizes our low rates of early elective deliveries and the high percentage of patients reporting through the national patient satisfaction survey that they would GRMC earns two Women’s Choice awards definitely recommend GRMC. The designation places us in the top 5% of all U.S. hospitals. Our center includes spacious birthing rooms and postpartum suites, a Level 2 special care nursery and board-certified neonatologist, and compassionate caregivers to attend to every new mother’s needs. Each year, nearly 1,000 babies are delivered at GRMC by board-certified physicians specializing in obstetrics. Gynecological surgery The evolution of robotic surgery has improved the surgical experience for patients because these incisions are minimally invasive and the surgery itself is extremely precise. Alyson Kirchner, MD, OB-GYN, notes that this technology translates into more efficient surgery, quicker recoveries, minimized pain and blood loss, and high patient satisfaction. Annually, more than 600 robotic surgeries are performed at GRMC, including gynecologic women’s surgeries such as cyst removal, hysterectomies and tubal ligations.
