Accordingly, I would like to dedicate my thanks to the capable and impressive women of GRMC, who have been pillars of strength and unwavering dedication during this past year of challenges. Three specific women I would like to recognize are Daphne Blake, RN, Chief Nursing Officer; Sheri Williams, RN, Chief Operating Officer; and Rhonda Unruh, RN, Vice President of Quality. Daphne has worked tirelessly to ensure that her nurses and therapists are well supported, constantly collaborating with our phenomenal frontline medical staff to ensure the best care possible for all patients, and always demonstrating an unwavering philosophy of compassion during these trying times. Sheri has provided operational leadership throughout. In addition, she took on the huge job of planning and coordinating multiple vaccine clinics for our staff and for the community. More than 15,000 local residents have already received vaccinations through these well- organized events at the Coliseum thanks to the incredible efforts of the City of Seguin and Guadalupe County. Rhonda has been the steady voice of information and facts, steering our staff and medical community GRMC Wonder women of and communicating with regional agencies during our summer and winter COVID-19 surges. As in many healthcare organizations, the majority (over 80%) of our 800+ GRMC staff members and leaders are women. Their professionalism, talents and dedication this past year have shaped our nimble responses in human resources, emergency and urgent care services, the many busy nursing units, cardiopulmonary care, laboratory services, physical therapy, bedside care, housekeeping, physician practices, and more. It is my high honor and privilege to have worked hand in hand with them for the service of our community and staff. I represent GRMC when we receive much- appreciated awards, such as The Seguin Gazette ’s Citizen of the Year distinction this year, but I know that the true accolades belong with our hardworking staff.
